Henry Cavill: Has Been or Never Was?

So I've been purposely keeping myself away from the Henry Cavill/Natalie Viscuso drama for a while, especially seeing what transpired with her dog. I was repulsed by his behavior, not surprised by hers. But then this article came out on the DailyMail and it got me thinking: Who is this man? A pretty boy lauded more for his physique than his work? Questionable personal choices not withstanding, is he the superstar actor some claim him to be? Is he a has been due to the roles he's lost or will never get (Bond, I'm looking at you)? Or is he a never was?

Filmography: Charles Brandon...Superman...Napoleon Solo...Superman...Cpt. Syverson...Superman again...August Walker...Sherlock Holmes...oh and Geralt. And other minor bit roles. For a career that has spanned over 20 years, I would expect more from Henry at this point. Was he great in some of his roles? Sure. But he's not Oscar worthy. AND HE SHOULD BE.

Where's the challenge? I would think that someone who loves what they do would challenge themselves, push themselves to do things they might normally find uncomfortable or challenging in their craft. To gain more knowledge and expand their boundaries. What I see is a 40 year-old man acting out his boyhood fantasies as Superman and Geralt. Sword fights, magic and superheroes. And possibly spacemen at war, IF his Warhammer colab with Amazon doesn't fall through. Which is great, but you can't do that forever. Try material with more sustenance. A dramatic role to show off his acting abilities (or am I giving him more credit than he deserves? *shrug*).

The article with the horribly photoshopped picture of Henry (thankfully it's fake and he didn't stoop so low, except for being associated with Natalie) makes me think, "This is how people look at him. By his looks, not his craft. A himbo." I thought this was what Henry didn't want. But then, fans thought he was a pillar of virtue, yet his association with Natalie decimated those feelings. And the comments are 95% about his looks. Sexualizing him. Nothing about his talent.

I don't know, I guess I thought he can do so much more. I was surprised that many people reacted to social media posts declaring how Henry was the best Superman as....not really. Again, I guess I thought he was bigger than he really is. I think part of the problem is either someone planted the seed that he is bigger than reality, or Henry believes this himself.

- He lost Superman

- He lost (quit/fired) Geralt

- Still "rumored" to play lead in Highlander

- He lost sponsorships (where's his posts for Rosemary Water or Muscletech?)

- HE'S LOST THE RESPECT OF SO MANY FANS AFTER HIS TREATMENT OF THEM AFTER INTRODUCING HIS "LADY"

People are not beating down the door to cast him. Which is a shame because he could and should have been a super star.

But then his behavior for over 2 years makes me think...perhaps not.

Try not to look so smug, darling...

I will if you try not to look so miserable...
