F*it Moment: Hollywood Gone Stupid...

I'm sorry but I have to ask: what the hell has happened to Hollywood? Have those at the executive level lost their minds, because those at Warner Brothers definitely have. I'm speaking specifically when it comes to their handling of the DC universe. I can't think of a a franchise that was handled as poorly, and it's a shame. The DCU catalog is full of the most popular superheroes and villains and as such they should be making it rain over at WB.

A major problem is a clear divide between the studio and the fans. This is proved with the release of the Snyder cut of The Justice League (FINALLY!) on the HBO Max streaming service. Another issue is in the casting of the DC superheroes. I don't know why but for some reason WB seems to have an aversion to working with Henry Cavill's Superman. His portrayal kicked off the Snyderverse with Man of Steel in 2013 and after 2017s The Justice League he's been MIA. He wasn't involved in reshoots for the Snyder cut of The Justice League nor did he appear in two Superman cameos featured in Shazam or Peacemaker. There are articles almost weekly discussing the possibility of Cavill returning as Superman, talks that WB will bring him back in some capacity, and other various rumors that have been going around for years. Henry himself has repeatedly stated he would love to play the role again. So why won't WB pull the trigger? Hollywood politics, probably. Straight while male roles are shrinking in the industry, as established characters all over the entertainment genres are being gender/race/sexuality swapped in order to meet their diversity check boxes. Various articles claim the hang up is basically over money, but we will probably really never know if that is the true reason or if it's the go to answer used to cover up a bigger issue. WB has the perfect actor to fill the shoes of Superman. Cavill is not only a huge fan favorite, but he is a genuine self-appointed geek who embodies the superhero.

Warner Brothers...you've gone stupid.

But hold on WB, you've got company. Amazon has decided to jump onto the stupidity band wagon. The Amazon production The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power teaser trailer premiered during the last Super Bowl and was our first preview into the latest "adaptation" of J.R.R Tolkien's beloved Lord of the Rings books. And it did not go over very well with fans. As of now the teaser trailer on YouTube has been heavily ratioed and a common Tolkien quote was spammed in the comment section:

"Evil is not able to create anything new, it can only distort and destroy what has been invented or made by the forces of good.” - J.R.R Tolkien

Words fitting for many of the movies, tv shows, comic books and other entertainment genres that have flooding the market in the past few years. Most are filled with identity politics, unnecessary character changes, etc. Amazon seemed to be prepared for the negative responses by releasing a couple of articles in Vanity Fair which did nothing but stoke the fire in Tolkien fans' disapproval. It seems the wrong fanbase has been provoked. They have been calling out the ignorance displayed by the showrunners as well as so-called "Tolkien experts."

Amazon...you've gone stupid.
