A Response to a Henry Cavill Fan Attacking Those Who Do Not Agree with Them

So I keep coming across Henry Cavill “fans” who are berating those fans who are questioning Henry’s behavior and actions since he’s “been with” Natalie. I’ve already posted about it before, but it seems to be getting completely out of hand. And so, I would like to respond to one such person:

First, fans DO NOT have an obligation to support Henry and the decisions he’s made throughout this ordeal. We are individuals and have been gifted with a great thing…FREE WILL. We can believe what we want, support who we want, and therefore NOT support whoever we want. You claim those who don’t blindly follow him are bullies and spreading hate? Berating people because they don’t agree with you is BULLYING. IT NEEDS TO STOP. That goes for both sides. But to be clear, I’ve been following this since the beginning and the truly horrible bullying has come from Henry and Natalie supporters.

NEWS FLASH. People aren’t going to always agree on things. It seems in recent times that people can no longer handle any sort of criticism or disagreements. People are meant to exist in an echo chamber (ONE OF US…ONE OF US…). Sorry but that’s not human nature. IT DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY. And it’s unhealthy. The name calling is out of control. And it’s childish.

So you claim to be a “true” Henry Cavill fan. Great, that is your prerogative. Just like it’s others’ prerogative to question him on his behavior, which has contradicted 20+ years of previous behavior. Most are simply asking Henry why the change? Was he always like this and lied for those 20+ years? If you put yourself on the public forum, you’re open to criticism. That goes for anyone, like it or not.

And it is IN NO WAY YOUR RIGHT to gatekeep who can and cannot call themselves a Henry Cavill fan. People can be his fan and call him out on BS, given that it’s respectful. It’s called tough love. Sometimes people need that when they’re exhibiting questionable behavior. You don’t like what you are reading? IGNORE IT! BLOCK THAT PERSON! Do not engage with petty and childish behavior. BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT HELPING!

And one final thing…respect is earned, not demanded. Loyalty is earned, not demanded. Trust is earned, not demanded. And they can be lost in a split second. That is what has happened to so many fans in respect to Henry, his team, and their actions towards fans. All it took was one FO post. All it took was contradictive behavior. Some fans choose to stay by him, some have left. THAT’S THEIR CHOICE. RESPECT IT AND MOVE ON.
